Three mandatory certificates before any placement
Safeguarding Children (Level 2+), Paediatric First Aid, and Team Teach physical intervention are non-negotiable prerequisites. Workers without current, valid certificates are not placed — regardless of experience level. All three are renewed on schedule and tracked centrally.
What our workers are trained in
Modules marked Mandatory are required before first placement. All others are completed within the first 90 days.
Safeguarding Children
MandatoryRecognising and responding to abuse, neglect, and exploitation. Covers reporting duties, information sharing, and working with multi-agency teams.
Physical Intervention & De-escalation
MandatoryNationally recognised Team Teach accreditation. Covers positive behaviour support, verbal de-escalation, and safe physical intervention techniques.
First Aid for Children
MandatoryEmergency first aid including CPR, choking, anaphylaxis, and managing medical emergencies in a residential care setting.
Children in Care — Foundations
Understanding the care system, trauma-informed practice, attachment theory, and the rights and entitlements of looked-after children.
Record Keeping & Documentation
GDPR-compliant record keeping, incident reporting, daily logs, and care plan documentation to Ofsted standards.
Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
Cultural competency, unconscious bias, and creating inclusive environments for children from diverse backgrounds.
Leadership in Residential Care
For Senior Support Workers and Team Leaders. Covers supervision, rota management, Ofsted inspection readiness, and staff development.
Night Shift & Lone Working
Risk assessment, lone working protocols, night-time routines, and maintaining safe environments during unsupervised hours.
10-point pre-placement check
Every worker passes all ten checks before we consider them for placement. Providers receive a compliance summary with each introduction.
Enhanced DBS (Update Service)
Processed before first placement, monitored continuously
Two professional references
From supervisors in relevant care roles within 5 years
Right to work verification
Original documents checked and copies retained
Employment history check
Full 10-year history with gap explanations
Safeguarding training
Level 2 minimum, renewed every 2 years
First aid certificate
Paediatric first aid, renewed every 3 years
Team Teach / MAPA
Physical intervention accreditation where required
Health declaration
Fitness to work in a care setting confirmed

Reviewed as part of pre-employment checks
